Given identical weight and tooth count, the new ratchet design increases the engagement surface area by 38%, resulting in a significantly higher load-bearing capacity and more stable power transmission. In contrast to standard flat ratchets—where the tooth faces feature a uniform, concentric block-like distribution and the overall force follows a flat, annular-block trajectory (generating stress levels of approximately 630 MPa)—our new GOLDIX ratchet tooth profile utilizes a chamfered tangential guide directed toward the base circle. This design channels the overall force along a conical, concentric trajectory. This guided mechanism enables the pawls to engage the ratchet teeth more smoothly and precisely; the engagement process is accelerated, free travel is significantly reduced, and power response becomes more direct. Furthermore, this design incorporates an automatic self-centering function, ensuring that the ratchet consistently operates along the same axis during riding, thereby effectively minimizing ratchet misalignment and enhancing engagement stability. Under simulated conditions involving the application of 230 N·m of torque to the tooth face, the peak stress level—approximately 480 MPa—was reduced by about 32%. Consequently, within an equivalent operating environment, the service life of the new GOLDIX ratchet is significantly longer than that of a standard 36T flat ratchet.
