Material: Medical-grade stainless steel (main body) + Silicone/PTFE (tip protective pads)
Sterilization Method: Autoclavable at 134°C (high-temperature high-pressure steam sterilization) / Ethylene oxide sterilization
Structure: Spring-adjusted, stepless locking of opening size
3. Product Features
Stepless Spring Adjustment: Precisely and stably control the opening via the spring mechanism, with easy operation and stepless locking at any desired position.
Protective Tip Design: White soft protective pads at both ends prevent damage to the animal’s teeth, gums, and oral mucosa.
Corrosion-Resistant & Easy to Sterilize: All-stainless steel construction allows repeated autoclaving, suitable for high-frequency use in pet hospitals and laboratories.
Multi-Size Compatibility: Three sizes (small/medium/large) cover cats, rabbits, and small animals of different body types.
Stable Structure: Ergonomic design ensures the gag stays firmly in place after opening, guaranteeing operational safety.
4. Instructions for Use
-
Pre-Operational Preparation
Confirm the animal is sedated/anesthetized and in a stable condition.
Select the appropriate size of mouth gag based on the animal’s oral size and surgical requirements.
Clean and sterilize the mouth gag to ensure sterility.
-
Placement Procedure
Position the protective pads of the mouth gag on the upper and lower molars of the animal (avoid contact with incisors to prevent damage).
Slowly adjust the spring to gradually open the oral cavity to the required angle and lock the position.
Verify the gag is secure and the animal shows no obvious discomfort before proceeding with examination/surgery.
-
Post-Operational Procedure
After completion, slowly release the spring and gently remove the mouth gag.
Clean any residual foreign matter from the oral cavity, then clean, sterilize, and store the mouth gag.
5. Precautions
For use only on sedated/anesthetized animals. Do not use on awake or struggling animals to avoid stress or injury.
Do not over-open the oral cavity, as this may cause mandibular joint dislocation or mucosal laceration.
Replace protective pads immediately if cracked or worn to prevent hard components from contacting oral tissue directly.
Thoroughly clean surface contaminants before sterilization to avoid organic residue affecting sterilization efficacy.
This product is a veterinary-specific instrument; do not use on humans or large animals.
6. Maintenance & Care
After use, promptly clean with clean water or neutral detergent to remove blood, saliva, and other residues.
Sterilize via autoclaving (134°C, ≥15 min) or ethylene oxide, then air-dry and store in a sealed bag.
Regularly inspect spring elasticity and joint stability. Stop use immediately if jamming, deformation, or rust occurs.
Store in a dry, well-ventilated environment free of corrosive gases, and avoid mixing with sharp objects.
7. Troubleshooting
